Merry-almost-Christmas

Merry Christmas!!! Yay!! Just kidding. It's not even Christmas, or Christmas Eve. Whatever. Let's re-start.

Merry-almost-Christmas!!! Yay!! Much better, thanks. Anyways, it's really exciting to wait for Old Saint Nick to come down through the chimney (my house doesn't have one), but guess what? See anything familiar??? Huh? Old Saint Nick? ME?

No, just kidding. I'm no Santa. But guess what? My "nickname" IS NICK. Funny. I just realized the moment I'm typing this. So, I'm watching "Christmas Swag" on YouTube, and also "Ho Ho Ho". These songs are made by YTF. Check 'em out. (I'm a fan). And I don't know what I'm supposed to type about so...
Bye. Check 'ya all out on Christmas Eve or Christmas, and New Year's Eve or New Year, or Chinese New Year's Eve or Chinese New Year...
Adios.

P.S. I'm baking cookies for Sev. I have been planning to make a doggy christmas party this year. I invite all the dogs, they gather, I let them eat cookies, I let them play together. End of plan. Nice sharing, isn't it? Christmas is about it, really. Recently, I got a text message on something that snapped me. It's something like:

Jesus: Santa?
Santa: Yes?
Jesus: I'm sad :(
Santa: Why? Isn't it December? It's going to be your birthday soon, isn't it?
Jesus: Not about that. :(
Santa: So, why are you sad?
Jesus: On December, all the kids look for YOU, not me for presents. Even though it's my birthday.
Why Santa? Why not Jesus? Christmas is about Jesus, so why do we always look for Santa?

Something like that. And I watched a movie called "Veggietales: Saint Nicholas". I love it.
OK, chao. (I've got no pics to share, sorry)

God Bless You.

Laika the Space Dog

Fasten your seatbelts and get ready to launch into space! ZooooooOOOOOM!
So, I've just won a science competition (woo, yay, clap, clap, whatever you want to do). Third out of four. I've got a graphic novel about Laika, the first dog to orbit the earth. I got interested. You know how interested I am in dogs, right?
Laika has an interesting life. I haven't really finished the book, but I've been researching through the net. So far, in my words, this is Laika (excuse my mistakes, if there are any in the story):

"Kudryavka (Little Curly) was named after her tail. This is one of Laika's Russian nicknames. Yes, Laika has a couple of nicknames that will be mentioned later on. The samoyed husky puppy's had a hard life. She was given to an irresponsible boy, who threw her away. The dog catchers got her, and the Russian space stuff adopted her. From my research, it was said that the staff adopted stray Moscow dogs, so they would be already used to hard life, like Laika. The dog catchers called her Zhuchka (Little Bug). The dog caretaker or something called Kudryavka Limonchik (Little Lemon). As noted in my book, young Laika was eager to please and patient. She faced her trainings, which is spinning in a small capsule. Finally, Laika orbitted the earth, being the first dog to do it, in Sputnik 2 (I think it's a rocket or a space craft) but sadly, she died in space. It is said that she likely overheated within hours after she launched."

There. That's really in my own words, with a little help from Wikipedia... :P

Oh well. Night! It's nearly half past eleven-in the night! Good night. -o- z

Quotes and Birthday

Part 1-Quotes

OK, this has nothing to do with animals, but I find these quotes rather interesting:

(-) If you can dream, you can do it-Walt Elias Disney

(-) It takes one smart guy to save himself, and one doofus to torment himself even more-Me

Well, that was pretty dumb. I mean my quote, not Disney's. So, I'm feeling rather stupid now, typing about quotes instead of animals or stuff. See ya

Part 2-Birthday

It's not really my birthday, or anybody I know's, despite the title-it's my dog's belated birthday. You know, Seven!

The cheek had his bath this morning and I'm celebrating his birthday tonight. It's supposed to be on 24 August but...well...I've been busy with schoolwork and stuff, you know. It's been hard in sixth grade so far. Lots of exams and quizes. But it's the Lebaran Holiday now, I can finally celebrate Seven's twenty-eighth birthday.

I'm not even older than him, pity me. Boo-hoo-hoo.

Guess that's all for now. See Ya round!

P.S. Please never mind the picture of me-just concentrate on the not-as-fluffy-as-usual, damp, furry, white-and-cream dog.

Snakes

Snakes. What most people think of is poisonous fangs, long and scaly body, no legs, forked tounge... I think snakes are amazing, the way they live and cope up. But that's not all about this amazing creature. Snakes are also kept as pets.

Most people don't like snakes. Why? That, I don't know. There are many reasons. By the way, there is no such thing as a poisonous snake, the term is venomous. Snakes are not poisonous, but they do inject venom making them venomous, there is a difference.

Tell a difference between venomous and non-venomous snakes:

The head of a venomous snake looks like your hand balled into a fist on the end of your arm. As the body of the snake tapers toward the head, the jowls flare out making a very distinctive head shape. The exception is the Brown water snake on the central east coast. It has a vaguely flared head but it is not venomous.

The Inland Taipan Snake (Venomous)

As for the non venomous snake, its head shape is roughly the same size as the rest of its body, the exception being the coral snake.

Black Rat Snake (Non-Venomous)

So, careful when you pick up a snake. Know the difference and you'll see the advantages.

Do You Know?

Ding Ding! It's time for 'Do You Know?'!

'Do you know?' is just for entertainment. I'll put in jokes and facts in these entries!

1. Do you know? It's not water that a camel stores in it's hump, but fat!
2. Do you know? Kangaroos can't jump backwards!
3. Do you know? The hummingbird is the ittiest bittiest teenciest tiniest bird! It's also the only bird that can fly backwards!
4. Do you know? Woodpeckers slam their heads into wood at a rate of 20 pecks per second!
5. Giraffes and humans have the same number of bones in their necks: seven! (Hey, that's my dog!)

Joke Time!

Did the chicken cross the road?
Did he cross it with a toad?
Yes!
The chicken crossed the road,
But why it crossed, I've not been told!

Driving with Penguins
A man was driving down the road with twenty penguins in the back seat. The police stop him and say that he can't drive around with the penguins in the car and should take them to the zoo. The man agrees and drives off.

The next day the same man is driving down the road with twenty penguins in the back and again. He is stopped by the same police officer who says, "Hey! I thought I told you to take those to the zoo."

The man replies "I did. Today I'm taking them to the movies."

New Pets

Smaller pets, like rabbits, hamsters or birds, are easier to take care of. First, it takes less responsibility and second, your parents have more chance to agree with that. Plus they're a lot easier to find in your neighborhood-in pet shops.

My rabbit stays in a cage near my garden, with my dog. They don't bother each other. But sometimes, my dog gets silly and eats rabbit food! That's not a joke, really. Seven could be silly sometimes.

Anyway, there's a few things you need to take care of before you get a new pet. First of all, equipmets. You see, there are basic needs and extra needs (if you want to do or buy for your pets).

Basic equipments for non-flying small animals are quite easy. First, of course, you need a cage. Then, a food and water bowl. You can use bottles for the water as well. Bottles like these:

They stick to the cage's sides. It's easier.

Next is food. You can get easy dry food pellets at the local pet shop. Feed your pet everyday regularly. Try to feed your pet at the same time everyday, so it'll get a healthy diet. Consult your vet for more information and, if possible, get a time table written down for your pet's feeding.

There's also excersice to consider. For guinea pigs or hamsters, you could use a hamster wheel. It's usually propped in one side of the cage. For rabbits, get them regularly excersiced in your garden. Oh, I hope you won't mind a few nibblings on some plants. Snowball does that.

Don't forget to change the loos for your pet as well. Spread out newspaper at the bottom if the cage is a bared one or spread it on the cage. Adding some straw will make the cage prettier, like cages in the pet shop.

Cleaning your furry pals will be quite easy as well. Get a damp cloth and gently rub it on your pet.

That's mostly the basics. There are not much extras for littler pets like that but more for bigger ones like cats and dogs. You can also buy a small hamster house for your hamsters.

You must also get your pet used to others. Don't let that critter get shy! Socialize, that's what.

Well, that's all for now. See ya!
